Getting Students on Blogger

Today we introduced students to Blogger! You can check out each student's blog and follow their adventures. I will add a page on the LA Art Trip website with all of the links to student blogs. By blogging, we are working specifically on the Graduation Expectations of Writing and Technological Literacy.

Fundraising Efforts

We are in the process of getting ready for two group fundraisers. One fundraiser is a Silent Art Auction during parent conferences in March. We would love any type of art, gift certificates or items in great condition to auction off at a table in the Commons area. We will also be selling first aid kits throughout the month of March and during parent conferences. We receive half of the proceeds from each first aid kit that we sell! Money that we raise from these fundraisers will go to the group. This extra money will be used to buy tickets to see some live music in Los Angeles.

Building Community Through Music

Today's class was about building community through music. Students learned how to play the Zimbabwean marimba and bang pipes. In about an hour, we had everyone playing music together and having fun. 

Block 3 Class

Registration for the Block 3 class is coming up on December 9. In order to register, students need to bring in their IEP also signed by their Advisor. Very soon a letter to parents will be posted on this website with specific information regarding the trip.

Fundraising & IEP

At our 2nd interest meeting, we handed out IEPs for the trip. Students need to fill these out with their goals and strategies for all three domains- personal, social and intellectual- for the trip. These are due when we get back from Thanksgiving break.

We also started planning for our huge fundraiser- a silent auction during Peace Night. This will only be as successful if we have things for it! Please bring in your art work, gift certificates, things lying around your house to Jenny's room. Thanks!

Interest Meeting

We are having our 1st LA Trip Interest Meeting on Wednesday, October 12 during the special Walkabout Time in Jenny's room.
